Expectations and Requirements

For the 2024-2025 competition, the students must begin their research at the start of the Summer 2024 semester and students are expected to continue their research through the Spring 2025 semester, by taking research-oriented courses for credit. An example of such a course is:

Students should register for 1-3 credit hours per semester. Generally, 3-4 hours per week in the lab = 1 credit hour. Selected students must be able to attend a Scholars orientation that will be held April 2025.  This will be held in conjunction with the Undergraduate Research Symposium. NOTE: November 1, 2025 is the deadline for the 2024-2025 scholars to complete the online project description and scholar profile. The first stipend payment ($750) will be made in early Sept 2025.The second stipend payment ($1000) will be made in the Spring of 2026.

Applications and supporting materials are due to the department or college office of your faculty mentor on the due date posted for that department or college.  For more general information, please visit UF Center for Undergraduate Research.  Click on the Prospective Scholars/College Requirements link to find your faculty mentor’s college to obtain specific information about the particular college’s requirements.  Note that in order to be eligible, you must not earn your bachelor’s degree before Spring 2026.
